Valentina Conchie ⚫️ Vibrant Cuckoo
Valentina Conchie (aka Vibrant Cuckoo) is a figurative artist whose practice spans painting, photography, and collage. Coming from a multicultural family and originally trained in medicine, she discovered art as a powerful language to express both general and personal narratives and her view on the world. Shaped by both Eastern and Western perspectives, she has developed a distinctive visual language that merges vivid colour, layered symbolism, and bold, emotionally charged imagery.
She fuses expressive, often satirical elements with a symbolic vocabulary drawn from folklore, sci-fi, and pop culture. Early portraits inspired by Kabuki masks evolved into a personal mythology of female protagonists navigating symbolic, allegorical landscapes.
Operating as visual fables—often titled with human names—her works invite viewers to look longer, feel deeper, and embrace complexity.
Originally from Moscow, Russia, Valentina has lived and worked in Singapore for the past decade. Exhibition highlights include Salon des Étrangers at the 60th Venice Biennale (2024) and a solo exhibit at The Other Art Fair, Melbourne (2025).
“Valentina Conchie is a maker of worlds: she does not represent them, she constructs them. A universe where childhood and myth, colour and instinct, memory and dream intertwine in a mysterious balance.”
(Federica Schneck, Art Writer & Critic)
